Natalia Povarova grew up in Saint Petersburg, Russia, graduated and received her Ph.D. in Moscow and moved to Chicago in 2019. She is a postdoctoral scholar in the Randall Lab in the Department of Microbiology at UChicago, curious about life in general and exploring the art and people of Chicago. If she could have lunch with any scientist, it would be Isaac Newton; with any artist, it would be Vladimir Vysotsky. She considers the most life-changing scientific breakthrough or innovation to be electricity. Her favorite element is molybdenum and music is her favorite art form.
